Visions revisits the 2005 exhibition Sustained Winds : before – during – after.
The exhibition –organized by Rose Macaluso Courville and the Acadiana Center for the Arts in 2005– aimed to support Louisiana artists after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Exhibition gave local and displaced artists an opportunity to respond to their new environment or reinterpret past work.
Four years after that ill-fated day on August 29, 2005; this show features work by Brad Benisehek, Tim Best, Lucius A. Fontenot, Annette Elizabeth Fournet, Emily Kincke and Heather Weathers.
Catalogues from the 2005 show will be availabe at the front desk.

The Acadiana Arts Council, with support from Project HEAL, held an exhibition that focused on the experiences of artists from the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita from January to March 2006 at the Acadiana Center For The Arts in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Spanning more than a decade during the mid-1930s until the mid-1940s, the Works Progress Administration, a government funded arts program, was created to help employ artists during the Depression Era. Project HEAL is extending this tradition of helping artists during a time of national crisis by supporting them in various venues throughout Southern Louisiana.
Following the practices of the Works Progress Administration, “Sustained Winds: before-during-after” assembled and displayed artwork from these categories: murals, easel paintings, sculpture, graphic arts, photography, scenic design, architecture and crafts.
This Exhibit Gallery site shows several shots from the exhibit gallery. My work is photographed in the third column, fifth from the top. Check out my gallery to see the selected photographs up close and personal.
Also, keep in touch for updates regarding the exhibition travel dates and cities and the publication of the book that will feature, Aurora Occidentalis!
